Teresa Descilo founded the agency at the request of the Miami State Attorney’s office in 1995. A task force had just concluded that the mental health needs of crime victims weren’t being met, when Teresa met the late Denise Moon. Denise, who was an incredible pioneering advocate for victims of crime, knew that ‘resolving the impact of trauma’ was the route to take with victims of crime, rather than ‘fix their mental health problems’, which was the only type of service that was available.

Teresa, who was born in San Francisco and grew up in the 1960’s in that fair city, has always been a free thinker, with belief in the resiliency of the human spirit and in the ability of each being to expand consciousness and tap inner strengths. She explored many paths and cultures over the decades and has collected many effective techniques for dealing with stress, raising awareness and connecting to one’s spiritual source. She always found it unreasonable that anyone should be permanently labeled and identified with any condition, as most things pass or can be worked through with some discipline and diligence, with the benefit of gaining strength and awareness. Teresa founded her agency on these values. And the results have been amazing: in an average of 20 hours of service, people who have experienced the worst that mankind has to offer have found relief from posttraumatic stress disorder, clinical depression and anxiety, as indicated through pre and post testing on validated measurements.

Teresa’s first career was raising her three sons, Rory, Royce and Travis. She has three Grand Babes, Becky, Jaden and Bjorn.
