The Miami-Dade County Office of the Mayor and the Board of County Commissioners
Whereas: Public safety is a paramount interest for county government, whose job it is to protect the residents and visitors of the County and victimization violates the safety of the residents and visitors of Miami-Dade County and can set the repeat cycle of violence in motion, especially for those who are victims or witnesses to domestic violence; and
Whereas: The trauma caused by victimization and disasters has shown to have long-term impact to the mental and physical health of those citizens who experience them with deleterious impacts to the community; and
Whereas: The Trauma Resolution Center has provided cutting-edge, research-based services to the community since 1995 to resolve the impact of trauma and empower people to live to their potential; and
Whereas: The entire mental health system in the United States is now adopting trauma-informed care and the Trauma Resolution Center is at the forefront of this movement as the first Trauma-focused Community Mental Health Center in the country; and
Whereas: Through its diligent work, the Trauma Resolution Center has continued to save lives, hence it is only fitting that all the Trauma professionals who devote their time and efforts to making a difference in our midst be applauded;
Now Therefore: BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, CARLOS ALVAREZ, MAJOR OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, CHAIRMAN DENNIS C. MOSS AND THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, ON BEHALF OF MAIMI-DADE COUNTY AND THIS COMMUNITY, do hereby proclaim Thursday, July 8, 2010, as

In Observance Thereof: I call upon the good people of Miami-Dade County to join me in saluting the men and women who make up the facet of The Trauma Resolution Center, thanking them for striving for success and achieving it continuously.
